Syndarma History

The Syndarma was established on October 5, 1934 under the name of "National Association of Ship owners," having originated from the "Coastal Conference," at a time when the Brazilian deep sea navigation on a regular basis, was exercised only by the State company Lloyd Brasileiro.

In 1942 it adopted the current name - "Union of Brazilian Shipowners" - retaining however by tradition the logo, symbol and sigla "Syndarma". Its represent the Brazilian shipping companies nationwide.

For over six decades, driven by the changes focused on the Brazilian commercial maritime activity, the Syndarma had its role increased, largely exceeding the merely category character (employers) to become the official representative of shipping business in Brazil.
